Oman Post Company launched its new website yesterday. The event was held under the auspices of Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel. Launching the new website of Oman Post came in accordance with the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to stimulate the role of e-government in different spheres of life in the Sultanate including the post sector.

This will help the company achieve its objectives aiming at developing the postal services to keep pace with market requirements and to meet wishes of the both citizens and residents. Oman Post website came to pursue the government’s direction to provide all its services through the umbrella of the e-government in all sectors.

Therefore, Oman Post Company seeks to implement this common approach through the company’s website for the convenience of users of postal services and make them be affordable for those who wish to take advantage of the offered services. The Minister of Transport and Communications said: “Introducing the Oman Post’s website is another significant additional feature which will certainly improve the postal services provided. It marks a vital step in the development process of this important sector. The website will enable people to complete their postal applications from home and office in a fast time through logging on the website of Oman Post. We wish that other mobile applications will be added to the website in order to make things much easier for people”.

Speaking on this occasion, Saif bin Amir al Shaqsi, Chairman of Oman Post and Under-Secretary of Housing Ministry, pointed out: “Today, Oman Post is launching its new website which will be an open window through which we can serve the society as well as to contribute, along with other government establishments, in the comprehensive development process in the Sultanate. The website is one of the outstanding important steps taken by Oman Post towards developing its services provided to the public. Oman Post has a variety of services touch the lives of citizens and residents to meet their desires, through which the basic and additional postal services are the most important services”.

“It is attributed that the first social postal services was dated in 1886, but the modern look of the postal services in Oman has been started since 125 years ago. However, the year 197 was the shifting point for the development of the postal services in terms of expansion and quality of services offered”, Al Shaqsi commented.

The website offers different information and services to the users such as history of postal services in Oman, postal services provided by Oman Post, government services, corporate services and postal tools. It also includes links through which people can apply for services I different governmental bodies such as Royal Oman Police, Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The website is distinguished with special kids’ corner where they can have fun and enhance their knowledge about the postal services. This corner also offers posts colouring activities for the kids.

Oman Post has a wide network including 94 post offices spread around the Sultanate, from the constant concern to bring the postal and other services to the commercial, residential and industrial sites. The company also has a remarkable transport fleet dedicated for transporting and distributing the posts in accordance with specific schedules covering all governorates of the Sultanate in order to achieve universal service, speed performance and reduce time-out distribution to cope with the global standards in the distribution and delivery.

Recently, Oman Post launched the ePost which is the first electronic postal service in the region utilising the latest state-of-the-art electronic delivery service.
