The Transport and Communications Ministry, in collaboration with Telecommunication Regulation Authority (TRA), the Information Technology Authority, and other relevant bodies are working together to enhance the telecom sector in the Sultanate through the new broadband company, which will supply fibre optic cables for network providers.

"The company is a substantial step forward in enhancing the telecommunications sector in the Sultanate. Better connectivity will enhance all the sectors in the Sultanate. By 2015, we will begin to cross company's major milestones,- ITA's CEO Salim Al Ruzaiq told Times of Oman on the sidelines of DatacenterDynamics Muscat conference.

Elaborating on the Sultanate's position among the GCC countries in field of Information Technology, Salim said: "Each and every GCC country will have its own priorities.
Oman also has its own priorities. We concentrate on our own needs and work to achieve those goals. Last year, we bagged a lot of awards both regionally and globally for our work.-
The ITA CEO made a presentation on "A Vision for the Future: The Oman ICT Road Ahead- at the opening of the conference, where he detailed the success attained by ITA and the plans for future.
Abdullah Al Barwani from ITA made a detailed presentation on ITA's National Data Centre, where he discussed the importance of maintaining a data centre and its features.
"The national data centre, established in liaison with the government communities of interest within the digital Oman strategy is providing better business continuity and effective risk management. It has improved the integration and scalability of applications, provided access to secure e-services at all times, protected confidentiality, integrity, availability and privacy of citizen data,- Abdullah said.
