Oman Post Company signed today at Park Inn Hotel 'Oman e Post' which was launched in partnership with VantagePost Technologies, through which a package of post services will be provided to citizens, expatriates and corporates though the Omanepost and the virtual mail box.

The Omanepost was launched by Eng. Saif bin A'mer al-Shaqsi, Undersecretary of the Housing Ministry and Chairman of Oman Post.

He said that the new service is unique as it uses the first of its kind technology in the post services. The services come in a bid to keep pace with the e-government initiative adopted by the Omani government in a bid to utilize technology in making our life easier.

He added that the services provided by the e-post are the second stage of the post services round the world. This impressive and leading leap is a source of pride as Oman Post Company has become a leader in providing qualitative novel services and adds to its existing services.

He pointed out that the package provided by the epost is diversified and growing as per the changing needs of the post system. This gives scope for development and helps in keeping pace with the growing modern changes.

He pointed out that the launch of the service not only solve the problem related to the lack of post office boxes but pushes the post services to non-presented levels through the use of modern technologies. With the launch of Omanepost, there will be radical solutions that enable everyone to have an electronic box through which he can decide on how to receive the messages.

On his part, Dr. Ahmed bin Ali al-Ma'awali, Deputy Chairman of Oman Post and Head of the Oman epost team project expressed his delight over the project which proves that the post services in the Sultanate are in their way to achieve the aims of the government with regard to restructuring and privatization of the postal services sector on sound business and economical bases.

He pointed out that the company will go ahead with the development plans by making the postal services a lucrative business and a supporter for the development process in the Sultanate.

The service has been designed to be very easy and simple. Anyone in the Sultanate can have an e-post free of charge by Oman Post Company. The service will enable individuals not only to receive and send digital messages but through cooperation with Information Technology Authority in the Sultanate, these services will be secure. The user will be able to follow his mail from the date sent till it is received and opened by the recipient.

The user may as well use passwords by which the messages will be torn out once they are opened and red. The messages may also be recovered by the recipient. The system also allows verifying the document through the authentication serviced which limit the circulation of any fraud documents or messages.

Omanepost service also provides the virtual post box which helps in overcoming the lack in post boxes. This will be availed against simple annual subscription fees. The individuals will be able to receive their written messages by receiving notification through their personal e mail.

The epost service will also provide the electronic stamp services that will enable subscribers to print their messages on normal letters or post card or greeting cards. They can stick an e-stamp on the letter before placing at the nearest post office box before sending to any country in the world.
