Transforming Government since 2001
The Information Technology Authority (ITA) will focus on developing online services in the Sultanate in the next five years, said Dr Salim Al Ruzaiqi, Chief Executive Officer of the ITA, on Sunday.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the conference on ‘Combining Global Knowledge and Local Insight: Datacentre Dynamics Middle East Africa,’ Ruzaiqi said the ITA has implemented all its plan of e-governance and now it was moving towards developing e-services as part of the five year plans of the Sultanate.

During his presentation on “eOman- a strategy aligned for future trends delivering the infrastructure for the knowledge-based economy,’ Ruzaiqi highlighted how e.oman Strategy is aligned to future trends. E.oman envisions transforming the Sultanate into a sustainable knowledge-society, aiming to enhance government services, enrich business sectors and enable individuals, he said.

Speaking on the challenges for the Datacentre, Ruzaiqi said that the landscape, climate and weather conditions, services provider maturity and quality resources were the major challenges which have to be dealt with. He also said that the government support and investment from the key regional industries have been essential in developing data centre facilities and market standards.

The conference was attended by global experts.
