Transforming Government since 2001
In recognition of the Central Bank of Oman's pioneering endeavours and as a complement to Oman's e-Governance initiatives, Bank Sohar has joined the newly established ATM platform -- OmanNet. Most banks in Oman will also migrate to the new platform that now replaces OmanSwitch all over the country. As a platform, OmanNet will add strength to the banking infrastructure in Oman. It will provide customers with increased efficiency and contribute to a significant improvement in the quality of banking services.

In due course, the new platform will serve as the gateway to progressive development of technically sophisticated banking services like mobile payments. The benefits of OmanNet can be accessed by any customer anywhere in Oman and participating GCC countries at any time. With the migration to OmanNet, Bank Sohar customers will enjoy the benefit of a wider network of Automated Teller Machines to access their money. The migration will also give customers added conveniences at the ATMs like balance inquiry, mini-statement, funds transfer and many more facilities.

OmanNet comes with its own new logo at the ATMs and customers will in due course become familiar and recognise the new name and logo at their favourite cash withdrawals points. "Since we opened for business, our customers have enjoyed free-of-charge access to their money at all OmanSwitch ATMs," said Khalfan Rashid Al Tal'ey -- DGM Retail Banking.

"The migration to OmanNet will continue to ensure the same free-of-charge facilities for customers and provide them with the familiar transaction environment at OmanNet ATMs. Since all ATMs in Oman will be under the umbrella of OmanNet, our customers will enjoy access to a wider network of over 500 ATMs to access their money; customers will also enjoy additional perquisites through the new platform in due course of time." Al Tal'ey confirmed that for customers, it was a smooth and seamless migration to the new platform.
