Information Technology Authority (ITA) today launched at Grand Hayat Hotel the project ‘ the framework for the technical criteria of e-government ‘ , under the auspices of Sayyid Salim bin Musallam bin Ali al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Civil Service Ministry for Administrative Development Affairs.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Omar bin Salim al Shanfari, Head of Corporate Sector and Consultancy at ITA delivered a speech where he said that the Sultanate has initiated an ambitious journey to transfer Oman to a sustainable knowledge based society through utilizing ICT in enhancing government services, enriching business sector and enabling individuals to improve the quality of their lives. He also affirmed the importance of this project.

After that Gerard, a consultant at the corporate sector and consultancy in ITA gave a presentation on the project. The presentation covered the best practices and management systems addressed by the project in a bid to enable governmental establishments to enhance the provision of their services in line with the international quality standards in this regard.

The project ‘the framework for the technical criteria of e-government' provides the frameworks and standards to promote the information system and e-government services. The projects comes in a bid by ITA in collaboration with the different governmental institutions to build e-Oman society and e-government.

The project will provide the criteria that identify the technologies required to support the governmental work and utilizing them in the provision of services. They also reduce the time and cost incurred by rolling out these applications and merging the information and services provided.

At the end of the ceremony, the Undersecretary of the Civil Services Ministry for Administrative Development Affairs honored the work team which prepared this project.
