The five-day event, to be officially inaugurated by senior royal family member Sayyid Shihab bin Tareq Al Said, will play host to more than 100 companies from the GCC and abroad.
Key officials of Oman International Trade and Exhibitions (OITE) and Information Technology Authority (ITA), the organisers, said ‘COMEX 2010’ had been envisaged as a ‘one-stop shop for all’ and would offer many more activities than in the past.
“This year’s COMEX has grown considerably in size and offers a greater numbers of activities,” Dr Salim Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA, told a news conference.
“This year the exhibition has been prepared bearing in mind all segments of society. For example, there is a special section for children, where they can find a number of attractive and useful technologies, and for families, there is a model of the Smart Home, equipped with a number of digital services,” he added.
Twenty-two government departments in Oman and several organisations associated with the ICT sector from outside the country will be among the exhibitors.
On the sidelines of the show, a conference titled ‘Creating Synergy and Driving Development Through Collaboration and Application’ and a Chief Information Officers (CIO) Forum will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
