Transforming Government since 2001
The Sultanate of Oman last week unveiled its first cyber center, which was launched in hopes of addressing emerging security and vulnerability issues on the Internet.

Based in the capital city of Muscat, the Oman National Computer Emergency Readiness Team will also work on detecting security incidents affecting the country’s information assets and initiating emergency responses.

Dr. Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of Information Technology Authority, said in his welcoming speech the Oman national CERT is part of the nationwide e-governance vision to transform the country into “a knowledge society.”

“Growing security risks requires concerted efforts and working together to address these risks and threats,” he said. “CERT aims to serve users of information technology: members of the community, government organizations, and companies, to provide a wide range of services related to information security.”
