Transforming Government since 2001
BankMuscat, a leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, has launched a new e-payment card for corporates. The electronic chip-based pre-paid card branded as e-Cash is primarily designed for large fee-based transactions at government establishments in Oman. Corporates are not required to maintain an account with the Bank to avail the offline card, which can be loaded in multiples of RO 5 to a maximum amount of RO 16,000.

Reflecting its instant appeal, Jawad Sultan Enterprises was the first corporate to acquire the card. "The e-Cash card is another step toward achieving the government's vision of promoting card as the mode of payment. With the introduction of e-Cash, the payment landscape significantly changes for corporates in Oman. Ushering in convenience, the new card streamlines payment and improves the delivery of government services", Sulaiman al Harthy, Group Deputy General Manager, Consumer Banking, BankMuscat, said.

The e-Cash card is available to all corporates in Oman and the top-up facility will be available at BankMuscat branches. For BankMuscat customers, the card can also be topped up through account transfer. It will have a validity of 2 years and can also be used at all government establishments, which have adopted the e-payment system.

Doing away the need to carry large amount of cash, corporates dealing with various government entities will find the e-Cash card secure and convenient. Offering high-level security, all e-Cash transactions are authenticated by personal identification number (PIN). With regard to unused cash on card, customers can get full refund at BankMuscat branches while partial refunds are not allowed. The card balance can be verified at branches.

Signifying the importance of the card in facilitating the government's ambitious e-governance initiative, the e-Cash card carries the official Brand Oman logo and is endorsed by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and the Information Technology Authority (ITA).
