This exhibition presents 18 government organizations under one single roof to demonstrate their e-maturity in terms of eServices, websites, internal systems and interactive solutions.
All these cumulatively enhance e-government efficiency and benefit the common public with easy access channels and quicker services with a range of affordable electronic interfaces.
Participants under eOman
In the eOman pavilion located at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, the State Council, Majlis A'Shura, Royal Oman Police, Public Authority for Social Insurance, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Ministry of Civil Services, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Sports Affairs, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Education, Ministry Justice, Ministry of National Economy, Ministry of Regional Municipalities & Water Resources, Muscat Municipality, Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Interior are all located in a single location to meet with the visitors.
Under the theme 'Interactivity', all these government organizations are presenting their electronically enabled services and ITA is also promoting its eOman initiatives. At the ITA cubicles project staff are enthusiastically meeting the visitors to explain their projects. Some of these ITA projects presented are the Government eServices Portal, Government Network, e-Payment Gateway, National Data Centre, Innovation and Support Center, E-transactions Law, Government IT Training, Oman National CERT and eOman Awareness activities.
Oman National CERT
Oman National CERT (Computer Emergency Readiness Team) played a key role in promoting security awareness among the kids during the recently held 'World Information Society Day'. The educative website has been designed and developed specially on the theme of promoting online safety among children, teachers and parents.
The website contain security poster and educative guidelines on password, email, chat room safety. The site also educates parents and teachers about how to ensure how the children gain maximum benefit from the Internet and yet safeguard them from potential risks. The Oman CERT team is also present at the 2nd Government e-Services exhibition distributing informative booklets and conducting interactive sessions with visuals.
Raffles and prizes galore
The eOman pavilion is also undertaking online survey and those who take part in this survey, enter the raffle draw for prizes. Interactive TV shows are hosted daily from the eOman stand to give way laptops and other valuable gifts to winners. Kids have their interactivity section with programmable devices and automation experimental learning models.
Demonstration of eServices
Realizing the importance of Comex as the annual ICT exposition of Oman, the Royal Oman Police is making its maiden entry this year into the 2nd Government e-Services exhibition. Apart from the eServices such online inquiry and payment of traffic offense charges and visa status inquiries, ROP also showcases their mobile civil registration unit.
For remote locations where there are no ROP centres, this mobile unit is used to collect digital images, finger-print scans, signature scans and other personal details required for the national identity card. Later these mobile units are synchronized with the live system at the nearest directorate office.
Websites and one stop solutions
The State Council and the Majlis A'Shura are demonstrating their fearture rich websites at Comex. While the Ministry of Commerce & Industry presents its 'One Stop Shop' system for business registration in Oman, the Ministry of Agriculture presents its e-Library to promote education and research.
