Transforming Government since 2001
The newly-enacted e-Transactions Law is aimed at consolidating public trust in the safe use of such transactions, messages and records while providing adequate protection for privacy of data of individuals, a senior official has said.

Dr Salim AL Ruzaiqi, CEO of Information Technology Authority (ITA) noted that the law incorporated strict penalties for anyone misusing electronic systems, the applications and the data they contain, hacking into computer systems and un-authorised capture or tampering of data.

“One of the main purposes of this law is to facilitate electronic transactions which are vital to e-government and e-commerce applications in Oman,” Ruzaiqi said.
