Transforming Government since 2001
The fifth 'Sanad' service centre in the capital was inaugurated in Al Khuwair on Sunday by Commerce and Industry Under-secretary Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb who underlined the key role played by the centres in Oman's drive to introduce E-government.

Two of the existing centres, which offer all the necessary services to young Omanis who intend to launch their own businesses, are located in Ruwi and one each in Al Khoudh and Al Ghubrah. Dheeb said plans were a foot to expand the facility to the other regions and governorates, notably in the cities of Sur and Sohar.

He said the opening of the Sanad centres, which are supervised by the Manpower Ministry, came as part of the national campaign to introduce full-fledged E-governance by assisting young Omanis with the clearance of their businesses with various government offices and reducing pressure on government establishments and private sector companies.

Dheeb noted that the government had played a significant role in setting up the centres, bearing all the costs to train Omani youth in coordination with Bahwan Cybertek Group.

The main aim of the centres, he explained, was to create gainful employment and business opportunity for the nation's youth by delivering government and corporate services electronically. He said the concept of Sanad services was focused on self-employment of Omanis by providing all necessary services under one roof, such as payment of electricity, water and telephones bills and translation and Internet services.
