It can now transact online for all its requirements with Etisalat, including account administration, service management and product delivery.
Hussein Lootah, Assistant Director General for Environment and Public Health Affairs and Head of e-Government Committee at Dubai Municipality, told journalists a number of new services could be undertaken jointly, which would benefit both the municipality and Etisalat in serving their customers.
"This will ultimately benefit everyone," he said.
He said through the new system it would be possible to carry out various online transactions such as submitting applications for different services, inquiry about the services, and bill payment.
There are 635 companies registered to use the online services of Dubai Municipality. The figures indicate an average 2000 online transactions a week, 22 per cent of which were processed by the customers during the off-duty hours.
"We are delighted to have developed a solution for such a high profile customer," said Khalid Al Kaf, General Manager, Network Services who heads the team that develops the e-shop service.
Al Kaf said transaction security is a major factor of any online service so e-shop has been developed in conjunction with Comtrust, Etisalat's e-business solutions unit.
The website, its payment facilities and service requests have been specially designed using the latest online security services providing subscribers with complete peace of mind.
