Mahmood Al Bastaki, acting eServices Director, Dubai eGovernment, in a presentation at a special event organised by Intel, titled 'Digital Transformations in the GCC; The Opportunity Ahead, attributed the achievements of Dubai eGovernment to the vision of General Shaikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister. "When Shaikh Mohammad launched the Dubai eGovernment project, he emphasised the need to offer high quality services through innovative Channels. We are totally committed to offer our expertise in eServices to various government departments in Dubai and the UAE, to accelerate our progress towards a digital economy," he said. Highlighting some of the key achievements of Dubai eGovernment, Al Bastaki added, "We have achieved the reinvention and simplification of government processes by eliminating red tape and reducing bureaucracy. Over the years we have enhanced the quality of rendered services for the public, ensuring transparency, integrity and accountability in our operations. At present we offer more than 1600 online Services through our user-friendly portal. We are constantly opening new channels of communication with various government departments to maximise our operating efficiency and productivity."
Al Bastaki introduced a practical emergency application service offered by Dubai police which exemplify the use of technology in easing the lives of people. Engineer Ahmed Al Muhairi, has demonstrated the application which was highly applauded. The system incorporates GPS receiver that can be hand held and even fitted into vehicles.
Dubai Police has been effectively using GPS, installed in their BMW cars to track down vehicles in any part of the emirate. This department has benefited immensely by making use of the latest technological advancements.
