Transforming Government since 2001
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries joined the group of leading ministries in the UAE to implement an intranet system that would see services provided in an efficient manner through effective communication between the different departments and regions of the Ministry. H.E. Saeed bin Mohamed Al Ragabani, UAE Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, said after inaugurating the intranet portal: ' The Ministry is proud to be among the first federal entities to have implemented this comprehensive system, which is considered to be a fundamental and developed infrastructure for a fully fledged e-Government practice at the Ministry.

The intranet system would give full access to ministry employees to information and services in order to raise efficiency and effectiveness of transactions and service provision.'

Abdullah Yaqoob Al Shaeer, Manager of Information Systems Department at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, said that this system supports the total quality program in terms of providing recent and accurate information and data. It also eases the pressure on the electronic mail system of the ministry.

Al Shaeer noted that as 1st of July 2004, the ministry has completed about 62% of network linking of all ministry regions. By the end of 2004, the ministry plans to complete 76% of network linkage.
