After launching the new site, Eng. Abdullah Al Shaibani, Assistant Director General for Technical Services said that in the future phases the Intranet will become a unique and secure portal for the Municipality employees.
'In the future it will become the basic source for notifying Dubai Municipality news, projects, activities, and follow up of circulars and administrative orders. In short, it will be offering them a unique mechanism to access all services, which will in turn save their time and effort,' he said.
The site offers many important services such as My Employee Records, which enables the employees obtain a lot of information about them like personal procedures, leave balance, performance evaluation etc, he said.
'It saves a lot of time and effort of the employees which can be utilized for accomplishing their professional commitments. It is worth mentioning that this service is also available over phone by using the Interactive Voice Recording system,' said Al Shaibani.
'Another notable new service called e-market has also been developed on the site. It will be an electronic meeting place for both the buyer and the seller, where the employee will have the facility to display items for sale as well as search for items he wants to buy through an easy to use interface following a few simple steps,' he said.
Eng. AbdulHakim Malik, Director of the Information Technology Department, which developed the Intranet website, said the site also has the facility to load different programmes for displaying the news clips and social news, in addition to uploading personal websites of the employees.
It also contains forms for completing different procedures related to the employees and also access various services offered by the Municipality to its employees, he said.
Malik said launching the Intranet site is also a step towards the Municipality's keenness to seek employee satisfaction. 'However, this would be only the first stage towards this direction, as the future would see efforts to develop it further by adding new features, systems and services such as Employees Forum and Dialogue Forum,' said Malik.
Alongside the press conference the Municipality also honoured Al Khaleej Sugar Company for using e-payment system for all their transactions with Dubai Municipality.
