Organised by Jobs Abu Dhabi, an e-government employment initiative, the third Virtual Career Fair (e-Fair) was launched today (June 4), and will run until June 6 at efair.abudhabi.ae. It will be open from 8 am to 4 pm.
The e-Fair is an online substitute to traditional career fairs that leverages the convenience of the internet to provide an interactive platform for employers and jobseekers.
This is especially advantageous for people with special needs and women who are often inconvenienced to attend traditional job fairs but who are determined to pursue fulfilling careers.
E-Fair participants will learn more about the culture, objectives and values of their prospective employers. They can directly apply for multiple job openings in a few clicks instead of tediously visiting booths one by one as done in a typical job fair.
They can also directly interact with employers and submit their resumes to several companies of interest 24/7 via the fair’s portal.
For employers, the online virtual fair enhances their local, regional and global visibility and gives them access to a technology-based platform that facilitates multimedia corporate branding and even enables them to set up virtual booths with flexible design options.
The updated reports and statistics on booth visits and applications also optimize the recruitment process.
The fair is even beneficial from an ecological perspective, as the virtual environment avoids wastage of paper, brochures, pens and other materials normally used in regular job fairs.
“Based on the huge success of the past two editions, we expect the 2012 e-fair to draw in a good number of applicants and result in highly satisfying matches between top candidates and leading private and public employers,” said Dr Ahmed Al Hashimi, project manager at Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre.
“It will be an outstanding reflection of Abu Dhabi’s growth as a healthy work environment. More than an employment platform, though, the e-Fair shows how information technology is paving the way to Abu Dhabi’s accelerated social and economic development. ADSIC will develop more initiatives such as the e-Fair, the Abu Dhabi Government portal and the Contact Centre to use technology as the emirate’s bridge to a bright future.
“Jobs Abu Dhabi and the e-Fair provide a transparent IT platform to directly link employers with jobseekers without the interference of a third party. We have made the e-Fair registration process very simple, for both employers and jobseekers. We also aim to facilitate online recruitment services to serve private sector demands in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Gharbia,” he added.
The first Jobs Abu Dhabi e-Fair was held in 2010. Last year’s edition was visible in 110 countries and offered 900 vacancies from 30 employers; it logged 16,000 submitted resumes and 250,000 page views.
