Mohamed Ismaeel, Director of Operations and Production, Emirates eGovernment welcomed the South Korean delegation led by Lee Jee-Yun of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security and Kyu-Taek Ji, Economic Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the UAE.
The delegation comprised of candidates for key positions in the South Korean government. They were here as part of their recruitment process that involves visiting other countries and studying the prevailing eGovernment programmes.
Mr. Ismaeel said, "With regard to the long-standing collaboration that we share with South Korea, we welcome the delegates. We are happy to share our knowledge in developing the eGovernment in the UAE. South Korea is an example in eGovernment that a developing country would like to follow. We hope our association brings out the best in eGovernment for both countries."
Mr. Ismaeel briefed the delegation on the eTransformation process that resulted in the steady development of the eGovernment programme in the UAE. He reiterated that the Federal eGovernment programme is a key initiative of the UAE Government Strategy 2011-2013 that lays the foundation to achieve Vision 2021, as declared by H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Dr. Basem Shahin, Content Development Manager and Ashraf Al Masry, Information Systems Engineer, Emirates eGovernment answered the candidates' questions regarding the eGovernment.
Mr. Ismaeel called for more such initiatives and associations with South Korea. He also shared that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries on eGovernment is underway. The MoU aims to achieve constructive and strong cooperation in four areas: eGovernment strategy and its applications, joint scientific research and development programmes, exchange of visits and the transfer of expertise, and collaborative activities with the private sector related to eGovernment.
Emirates eGovernment also called upon the delegation to give a glimpse of their success story in eGovernment. South Korea's global standing in the field of eGovernment was established last year when the nation stood first in the UN eGovernment Survey conducted by the United Nations Public Administration Network (UNPAN).
Lee Jee-Yun and Kyu-Taek Ji thanked Emirates eGovernment for their hospitality and time. Kyu-Taek Ji appreciated the cooperation of Emirates eGovernment on their previous visits to the UAE.
Emirates eGovernment works in line with the strategy of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and is responsible for formulating and overseeing the implementation of the eGovernment strategy on the federal level, ensuring robust shared infrastructure for federal government entities, and enhanced government services.
