The workshop was attended by the representatives of 30 government entities in Dubai, who became familiar with the technological and financial aspects of the project. Dubai eGovernment also selected the SPAN Group to develop the system in government entities for the management of their government assets.
H.E. Ahmed Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai eGovernment, said: "These workshops are held in implementation of Dubai eGovernment's vision to boost eTransformation and ensure that all local government entities are connected by rolling out technological systems that contribute to unifying their common infrastructure and manage their affairs in the best possible way. This comes in line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai of a connected government. It is also in harmony with our strategy and in response to our 'Customer First' vision which is aimed at minimizing our internal customer's efforts, time and cost by having one central GRP system which also ensures high levels of security against fraudulent acts like hacking and deception."
Bin Humaidan added: "We are connecting government departments within a structure governed by a common GRP system that provides a comprehensive network for communication and exchange of information while maintaining the privacy of each department. Most entities are using this system in place of their earlier systems which were working in isolation resulting in lack of coordination among government entities."
A presentation by Eid Al Sabbagh, Manager, Financial Management Systems at Dubai eGovernment, aimed at stressing the necessity for government entities to have all data ready in accordance with the requirements of automation in the upcoming period. In the first phase, the project will be applied in Dubai Municipality and subsequently in the other departments.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Zahi Al Bitar, Solutions and Development Manager at SPAN Group, said: "We are pleased to work with Dubai eGovernment in building a unified system to be integrated with the GRP systems. The system will help Dubai government entities track the life cycle of their movable and immovable assets, some of which are running a substantial volume of assets. We will spare no effort to provide excellent services that meet the needs of government entities and are seeking to develop our partnership to cover other areas in the future."
The GRP systems implemented by Dubai eGovernment for 30 government entities and covering around 25 integrated systems form the backbone for the efficient management of the basic resources of Dubai Government departments. They are used to manage human resources, payroll, finance, procurement and storage, and asset management.
They also support the recruitment process and transactions with government agents and suppliers, and enable government employees to efficiently perform their duties by providing a wide range of integration and supplementary reports. Dubai eGovernment is keen to streamline these systems and train government employees in their use as part of its commitment to helping realize Dubai's Strategic Plan 2015, which aims for governmental excellence and the development of an integrated knowledge-based community.
