Launching the service Al Tayer said: "RTA is keen on diversifying the channels through which its services are delivered to customers including the use of sophisticated communication technologies and e-services, recalling that RTA has developed an integrated strategy for converting its services to be offered them online in keeping with the vision and drive of the Dubai e-Government".
Al Tayer continued: "Over the past months of this year, RTA has made several improvements on the quality of services delivered to clients of the Licensing Agency. It is now possible for the public to process the renewal of vehicle registration/ driving licenses and effect payment of fines through four channels: RTA website (www.rta.ae), RTA customer service centers spread all over Dubai, RTA-approved insurance companies, and now through phone calls to RTA Call Center. Thus the Call Center is transformed from a mere platform of responding to inquiries and providing information to callers to an advanced operation center and a point for delivering services to customers. The new service will be handy, easily accessible and won't require huge human resources to run".
"Since RTA is in constant pursuit of customer satisfaction, this service of processing the renewal of vehicle registration and driving license as well as payment of traffic fines payment through the Call Center will be on offer 24/7 and RTA has already put in place the required counters for delivering the service to customers," confirmed Al Tayer.
RTA Chairman of the Board and Executive Director commended the huge efforts made by the work team of the Licensing Agency and Customer Service Centers Dep't in redefining and resetting those services & transactions to be delivered by phone, rendering the RTA the first entity across the Middle East that delivers such a service.
Accompanied by a host of CEOs, Al Tayer attended to a briefing by Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of Licensing Agency, about the mechanism of processing this phone transaction service, which starts by a customer placing a call to RTA Call Center (8009090), and selecting the required service where he or she will be transferred to the concerned service employee who in turn will enter the customers details in the computer which will display the customer's data on the screen. Accordingly the employee processes the transaction and recovers the service fees by means of a credit card. It takes about ten minutes to process the transaction and a copy of the new vehicle's registration card or driving license will be e-mailed to the customer pending the delivery of the original registration or driving license card by express mail. RTA has coordinated with the Dubai Police General HQ to accept the temporary copy pending receipt of the original registration or driving license card.
Bahrozyan further reminded customers saying: "Phone-based processing the renewal of a vehicle registration transaction requires preconditions to be met such as the vehicle's insurance and the annual technical test of the vehicle, if required. Licensing Agency has already made a dry run of the service within the RTA on 10 June last in order to assess the effectiveness of the system and overcome any hiccups. The Call Center has been revamped to handle larger number of callers and the service will be up and running early November this year".
Worth-mentioning that during Gitex Technology Week at the Dubai World Trade Center, RTA exhibited a wide range of new and sophisticated e-services highlighted by the advanced version of the dynamic navigation system "Dalili", theoretical e-test (Knowledge Test) conducted on driving license applicants, iPhone compatible applications enabling users full access to information related to the metro stations on the Red Line, journeys and the metro offences code. Service portfolio showcased in Gitex also included various types of Nol Cards, payment of parking fees through the mobile phone (mParking), inquiry and issuing reports about the usage of various Nol cards (gold, silver or red ticket) through Nol portal, and the journey planner (Wojahti), in addition to Sharekni and Awselni programs.
