"The project is part of the civic body's plan to put all its services online as part of the Dubai e-government project," said Rashad Bukhash, Director of the General Projects Department at the Dubai Municipality.
He told a press conference yesterday that the project will also help minimise its customers' visits to municipality offices in addition to reducing paper work.
"The online service is also part of the civic body's efforts to maintain transparency in decision-making and simplifying procedures for its internal and external customers," Bukhash added.
He said the system, named Prism (Projects Information System Management), which is introduced for the first time in the region, will facilitate follow-up of civic projects from planning stage to the final delivery stage.
E-services
"The system will enable project managers and senior management to follow up progress of work in every project in a constant manner. Because the system is available on the net, all those concerned, including private consultants and contractors, will be able to access the same through specially-assigned user names," said Bukhash.
He said the system is being introduced in line with the government's policy of maintaining transparency in the decision-making process with regard to awarding projects and their execution.
Bukhash added that all procedures related to projects would be automated so that consultants and contractors dealing with Dubai Municipality can submit drawings, plans, project programmes, reports, invoices, and approval applications through Internet.
