UAE:Abu Dhabi's First Inter-Government Entity Working Session 'Towards a Service-Oriented Government
The event was held under the Slogan "Towards Achieving a Service-Oriented Government" and was attended by representatives of various government entities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The program, undertaken by ADSIC, translates the vision of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the directives of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan - Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council.
In a speech delivered on the occasion, Mr. Rashed Lahej Al Mansouri, ADSIC Chairman, stated that the purpose of this working session is to enhance communication with the various government entities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi on the e-government program, and that the session highlights ADSIC's commitment to harmony and consistency in government activities to ensure the public are provided with world class government services.
Furthermore, Mr. Al-Mansouri provided the audience with an overview of ADSIC's role and the importance of the e-government program. "Our strategy for transforming government services aims in part at setting out the policies and mechanisms capable of optimizing the government performance in accordance with the international levels and enhancing government efficiency in various sectors using information technology as an enabler", added Mr. Al Mansouri.
Mr. Al Mansouri also confirmed the unequivocal requirement of the e-government program, currently under progress, to meet the constantly evolving service interests of citizens and residents in their dealings with the government. In this regard, he was quoted as saying, "The program, though a government-wide responsibility, relieves no government entity from its responsibility of service optimization, IT readiness and quality assurance".
"We are determined to keep pace with changes in areas of relevance to our e-government program and are proactively pursuing the many requirements of a knowledge economy," added Mr. Al Mansouri. He also confirmed the necessity to promote IT education and awareness and to launch required infrastructure projects.
Mr. Al Mansouri concluded by reiterating that, "By virtue of the e-government program, we will be able to turn the Internet into a primary tool to deliver services to businesses and citizens, as well as to process transactions and conduct the business of government between the various entities'.
