Transforming Government since 2001
The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is continuing its concerted efforts to make its popular website more user-friendly, offering a wealth of useful information and online services.

The website is attracting an average of 1.5 million visitors a day as global interest in Dubai as an ideal year-round business and leisure destination remains unfaltering, according to Mr. Suhail Buhelaiba, DTCM Manager Information Technology.

The website is available in six languages - English, Arabic, German, French, Spanish and Japanese.

Buhelaiba said, 'The website has been playing a crucial role in broadening the international profile of Dubai.'

Europe tops the list of regions from where the majority hits originated followed by Asia, North America, Africa, Australia and New Zealand and Latin America (Argentina, Columbia, Chile, Equador and Venezuela).

In Europe, the UK leads followed by Germany, France, Spain and Holland. The UAE tops the Asian region followed by Saudi Arabia, Japan, China and India. In North Africa region, most web surfers originated from Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia.

All the brochures and publications are available for browsing and downloading at the website in addition to Dubai map, videos and photographs. A Web camera and hotel directory remains equally popular.

The issuance of initial approvals for the licensing of hotels, hotel apartments and tourism companies is being done online, while there are plans afoot to soon start the online classification of hospitality properties.

The website is periodically-updated.

The DTCM has been a front-runner among the local government organizations in utilizing the Information Technology to promote tourism and trade to the emirate in addition to e-Services in line with the vision and objectives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The DTCM website was launched in 1996 and the portal's visibility has been enhanced through a link on the Dubai e-Government portal.

The e-Complaint facility assists people in the resolution of their grievances against the department, Dubai or Dubai-based establishments with the facility to track the status of complaints online. Public can obtain vital statistics about Dubai tourism and business sectors from the website.

Photo Gallery, Dubai Locator, Dubai Weather and Calendar of Events and Exhibitions are other attractions on the website.

Visa information, tourist tips and special needs tourism segments are also a big hit with the surfers. The department provided links to the websites of inbound tour operators from its website.
