A three-day training workshop was held in the UAE Ministry of Finance and Industry (MoFI) aiming to introduce and explain the new e-government housing programme, intended to be implemented early in 2006.

The programme aims at establishing an interactive system with all clients - either federal ministries or employees - to facilitate measures of providing housing services to targeted people efficiently following a strict timeline

Saif Al Khatiri, director of housing department- MoFI, said that the programme is in line with state and federal government effort aiming at implementing e- government

"Our aim is to replace the programme that depends on regular post and paper- based applications with a new procedures that depend on progressed communication means and e- transactions which would accelerate the measures of delivering housing services to public" he added.

The new housing programme is supposed to be implemented early in 2006, as a result of the cooperation of the information system department - MoFI.

The new system includes delivering services such as applying for new housing, renewing existing property license, transfer a property and/or handing it over and applying for maintenance services.
