Bahrain today made history winning the UN Integrated Workflow Management System (IWMS) Award. The global honour acknowledges the Kingdom’s Zajel e-massaging national project. A ceremony was held today at the UN General Assembly headquarters marking the tenth anniversary of the UN Public Service Award (UNPSA).

United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Sha Zukang and incumbent UN General Assembly President Incumbent Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser co-patronised the ceremony. Over 500 representatives countries vying for the award, ministers and officials in charge of e-Government programmes attended.

e-Government Authority Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed attended led Bahrain’s delegation. He received the award on behalf of the e-Government Authority and the Cabinet general-secretariat. Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the UN Jamal Al-Ruwae and project manager Nazar Ma’arouf also attended the UN ceremony.

Mr. Al-Qaed extended congratulations to the wise leadership marking the UN honour. He hailed the award as reflecting Bahrain’s strides in the sector of information technology.

He commended the wise leadership and the High Information Technology and Telecommunications Committee chaired by Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa for supporting the e-Government Authority programmes in line with the Bahrain 2030 Economic Vision.

Mr. Al-Qaed thanked the parties contributing in the project – the Royal Court, HRH the Premier’s Court, the Parliament, the Shura Council, the Cabinet general-secretariat, the Legal Jurisprudence Authority, and the Shura and Parliament Affairs Ministry.
