The ISO 9001:2008 certification is a set of standardized requirements for a quality management system developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
The certification of compliance with ISO 9001:2008 recognizes that the quality management systems in an organization is consistent with the international standards and provides a proven framework for policies, procedures and records to control and maintain quality standards within an organization.
“Receiving the ISO certification assures our continuous effort to deliver highest quality of services across various channels, in addition to the eGovernment’s commitment towards implementing the global standards that ensures consistency and improvement of the daily working practices, which in turn meet customers' needs” said Dr. Zakareya Ahmed Al Khaja, director of Policies and Business Processes Re-Engineering at the eGA.
'This new achievement is an additional to the previous achievements that aims at improving the excellence culture within the organization and development in the administrative work, especially after receiving the ISO 27001 for quality of information security,” he noted.
“This represents our continued efforts for improvement to fulfill the requirements of the Quality Management System at the eGovernment Authority within a short timeframe of 8 months with steady focus to synchronize our internal quality management system with the international requirements,” Al Khaja added.
The eGA successfully went through the evaluation process that covered all aspects of the management system for the design, development, processing, delivery and support of services to citizens, residents , businesses and visitors via various channels: the eGovernment portal (Bahrain.bh), Mobile Gateway, ekiosks, National Contact Centre and eServices Centres and associated infrastructure.
The eGovernment Authority begins its quality journey by establishing the basic processes, moving on to laying a foundation for process improvement with ISO 9001 :2008 standards.
The processes and procedures established for the eGA under the quality management system ensure that this commitment benefits customers, suppliers, employees and all other stakeholders alike by increased operational efficiencies, more consistent quality in service delivery, increased employee morale, competitive differentiation and improved customer satisfaction, he added.
