Transforming Government since 2001
Bahrain’s eGovernment Authority has signed a BD800,000 agreement with a Singaporean Company CrimsoLogic under which the Singaporean firm will set up a National Authentication Framework (NAF) which will enable Bahrainis to create their single personal unified identity profile to access government services through the Internet.

Under the system, Bahrainis and expats can set up their own web profile to use hundreds of online services. At present, users are required login separately for each service, but under the new system only one login will be required to access the whole bunch of online services.

By setting up their own web profile citizens could complete e-government transactions and access online government services in a faster and easier manner, through single digital identity.

The system has a capacity to cover all adult population in Bahrain.

That was highlighted by Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Shaikh Ahmed bin Atteyatallah Al Khalifa on Wednesday at the agreement signing ceremony. The system will be launched within the next nine months and it is expected that majority of citizens will use it within six months. The e-government offers 190 e-services. Shaikh Ahmed said the aim was to ensure highest level of security.
