The program is launched by Zain Bahrain as part of Zain Dreamers programs to enable talented and innovative youth in the field of IT.
This agreement is part of the efforts of various society institutions to support youths and their capabilities to enable them to fulfill their goals and reach their potentials in a comprehensive integrated multi cultural environment which establishes the foundations of progress and development of the national economy.
Zain eShabab support agreement translates GOYS' continuous keenness to support youth programs in the kingdom of Bahrain. To reach this goal, GOYS partnered with various entities in order to serve the aspirations and wishes of youths to be able to develop their potentials in fields which contribute to the growth and development of the country. In addition to bolstering the role of effective participation of this sector in the society and invest their knowledge and skills in reinforcing the national gains and achievements.
His Excellency Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa confirmed that GOYS is adopting the idea of eShabab due to its belief in the great importance of this outstanding program, which includes training sessions and competitions in the field of innovation and e-content as it represents an innovative program which attracts the youths who are distinguished in the field of electronics and develop their skills in this area as well as promoting a culture of innovation and create a fair competition environment among youths, especially in light of the information and communication revolution which attracts the interest of young people.
His Excellency Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, stated: "Through the second cycle of the (eShabab) program, we are trying to build on the exceptional success achieved by the program in its first cycle, which witnessed the participation of a wide range of Bahraini youth. The program contributed to highlighting the innovation of Bahraini youth in the electronic field, and we are confident that these innovations will continue this year to witness the spirit of enthusiasm and determination of young people to leave their mark in this unique area."
His Excellency expressed his thanks and appreciation to all the public and private institutions which took part in this pioneer youth program and confirmed that their concerted efforts are clearly translated the importance of participation of everyone to enhance the skills of the Bahraini youth in the IT field and employ them to serve the local community.
The effective participation of the eGovernment Authority as the strategic partner is revealed in the support agreement to emphasize the constant keenness to adopt initiatives aimed at strengthening the technology community in Bahrain. Various institutions worked hand in hand in order to enable young energetic people and utilize their capabilities in creating successful practical experiments which play its role in promoting awareness of community and maintain the prestigious position enjoyed by Bahrain on the international map in this industry and use the concepts and tools of information and communication technology.
In this regard, Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Qaed the Chief Executive Officer of the eGovernment Authority, stated, "This program aims to measure the performance and awareness of young people in the field of Information and Communication Technology , as well as encouraging creative and talented people to take advantage of their abilities for the development of the Bahraini society building upon technology, thus creating a new generation of innovators in this area."
He added, "The eGovernment in turn is striving to provide the appropriate environment for the new generation of young people for creativity and innovation, through training, education and employment of technology, thereby contributing to the support of the Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030, aimed at the development of Bahraini society in various fields."
Following the signing ceremony, Mr. Ahmed Al Hujairi - CEO of the Gulf Future Business, said, "The joining of the two major and pioneer institutions in the field of youth support and technology to eShabab program is a contribution which would push the program forward to greater success for the service of its goals. The major important role played by both institutions has had positive impact on social welfare, community and the growth of economy. Through this partnership and the eShabab program we hope to reconcile the creative energies of young people and what technology has to offer today of unique operational and manufacturing capabilities."
The signing ceremony which took place at the VIP Hall at the National Stadium was attended by Mr. Ahmed Al Balooshi, the Head of the Internet Society and Mrs. Samia Hussain the Director of Marketing at Zain Bahrain.
The young people were provided the opportunity to present their innovative projects in three categories: websites projects, mobile phone projects, and e-government project. The development of projects commences in June this year and continues to six months.
The program, which attracted 300 students with 240% increase from the previous cycle, is aimed at training and guidance, skills development and translating ideas into projects that focus on community service and development of public and private sectors. Participants will have the opportunity to listen and learn about latest developments in the field of technology, innovation and creativity at the hands of an elite of technology experts from around the world who will be presenting their experiences to the participants in the program. All participants shall be distributed to 60 groups to participate in the final contest of technology innovation.
Zain eShabab is the first program which is organized to focus on the empowerment of the creative energies of young people in the area of Information and Communication Technology in the Kingdom of Bahrain under the patronage of the General Organization for Youth and Sports (GOYS) and the support of Zain with a strategic partnership by the eGovernment, the Bahrain Internet Society, Microsoft Corporation, and Layla Fakhro charity Organization. The program aims to develop creative thinking among the students of the university through the training and guidance to projects based on creativity in the field of Websites, technologies associated with mobile phone, and egovernment to win one the prizes offered by the "Zain Dreamers" campaign.
