Mohammed Al Qaed, eGovernment Authority chief executive officer, told a press conference the scheme to put all official services online would cost BD30 million ($79.5 million) once complete.
"Originally, we had BD22 million earmarked for e-services, but it has increased as the services increased - the ones we were not informed of before," he was quoted by the Gulf Daily News as saying.
"The systems are already available through individual ministries and government organisations - we just need to link them and this costs a lot of money.”
His comments come at the same time as two new online services by the Municipalities and Agriculture Ministry were launched.
According to the paper, the ministry now accepts online applications for building and advertising permits.
The next ministry services to go online will be reclamation and digging applications.
