People in Bahrain will be able to renew their driving
licences, register their cars or pay traffic fines via the Internet by
the end of the year.
They will also be able to register as unemployed or renew their Central Population Register (CPR) cards online.
The five new electronic services will be the first phase of the expansion of e-government, to speed up public services, says Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Central Informatics Organisation president Shaikh Ahmed bin Ateyatalla Al Khalifa.
E-government has already slashed waiting time for some services from hours to minutes and communication between different ministries will be done electronically by the end of the year, Shaikh Ahmed told the GDN yesterday.
"People who had to wait earlier for four to five hours to get a CPR card now get them within 30 to 45 minutes," he said
