Transforming Government since 2001

Davanagere Smart City Limited (DSCL) has established a comprehensive smart parking system covering nine locations across the city. Users can utilise the DVG Help application to reserve parking spaces in advance, contributing to improved traffic flow. The designated areas can accommodate 2,798 vehicles in total, including 2,421 two-wheelers.

The system's key functionality enables motorists to secure parking spaces beforehand via the mobile application, facilitating structured parking administration. This advanced solution addresses traffic congestion issues by simplifying the process of identifying available parking spaces through the smart parking application.

Davanagere's transformation into a significant commercial centre led to an increased number of vehicles, presenting challenges for both traffic authorities and motorists regarding parking. Despite traffic police designating specific parking zones in market areas and implementing alternate parking schemes in commercial districts, over 20% of vehicles still lack adequate parking facilities.

Access to live parking availability information reduces anxiety associated with the search for parking spaces. According to officials, enhanced mobility significantly benefits Davanagere residents' daily experiences. "We have installed CCTV cameras in nine parking spots and are controlling them in the command control centre at the Smart City office. The staff keep an eye for empty parking spots through CCTV cameras and send the information to the mobile app. This will help vehicle users pre-book parking spots through the DVG Help mobile app," said Mamata, DGM, Davanagere Smart City Limited.

She elaborated that residents can reserve spaces through the application, which provides details about available locations and their proximity. Reserved spaces remain allocated for incoming vehicles. "The system is helping in reducing traffic violations and providing solutions to heavy traffic congestion in the city. The system has received good response from the public," Mamata claimed.
