The NICDC is developing these industrial smart cities with a "plug-and-play" system. Under this model, entrepreneurs will have access to all manufacturing-related facilities in one place, already set up and ready to use.
Following the government’s announcement to create a robust manufacturing ecosystem, land has been acquired from state governments in 10 states, including Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, for the development of 12 industrial smart cities. Work on building the necessary infrastructure is set to begin in March next year. These projects are targeted for completion within the next three years. The National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited (NICDC) is now initiating the process of selecting construction agencies for these projects.
What facilities will entrepreneurs get in smart cities?
The NICDC is developing these industrial smart cities with a “plug-and-play” system. Under this model, entrepreneurs will have access to all manufacturing-related facilities in one place, already set up and ready to use. They won’t need to visit multiple offices for various approvals.
These smart cities will provide entrepreneurs with all essential manufacturing infrastructure in one location, enabling them to begin operations without delay. A streamlined single-window system will simplify the approval process, eliminating the need for entrepreneurs to visit multiple offices. Once approvals are granted, they can commence construction and customize the land as per their requirements.
Hassle-free land and construction process
Once approvals are granted through a single-window system, entrepreneurs can begin construction on plots as per their requirements. Land for investors will be pre-prepared, eliminating the need to search for land, change its land use, or deal with complexities related to setting up industrial units.
The responsibility of providing land equipped with all necessary facilities for establishing industrial units rested with the state governments, which has now been fulfilled.
Rs. 28,000 crore fund allocated by the Center
Rajat Kumar Saini, CEO and MD of NICDC, stated that after acquiring land for these industrial smart cities, the central government has allocated Rs. 28,000 crore for the projects, according to www.jagran.com. The corporation will now select construction agencies based on the plans and begin work in March next year.
Completion within three years
The projects are set to be completed within three years. Saini emphasized that through these smart cities, the government aims to provide a world-class environment with excellent facilities to attract domestic and international companies. This initiative will not only boost manufacturing activities in the country but also create significant employment opportunities.
In Uttar Pradesh, projects in Agra and Prayagraj are expected to generate over 87,000 jobs, while the project in Gaya, Bihar, will create employment for more than one lakh people.
