Chief minister Pramod Sawant said on Wednesday that Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) is preparing a detailed report on Smart City Mission works in the city, and will soon submit it to govt.

Sawant said he is “sympathetic to the hardships faced by the people”. “If you need better infrastructure, the people have to face hardships (now), so that over the next 25 years, they don’t have to face these hardships again.”

“We (IPSCDL) are preparing an A-to-Z report on Smart City work — which contractors have been penalised, which consultants’ contracts have been terminated, which contractors have been engaged for rework — this will all be part of the report,” he said.

The chief minister reiterated that govt won’t spend a single rupee on contractors whose work is damaged, and that “govt will 100% ask them to complete the work again”. He also said that if the city’s sewerage pipeline isn’t replaced now, it would be a disaster for the people.

Last week, Sawant said that an audit of the Smart City works has been carried out. He said that based on the audit, action has been taken and services of a consultant have been terminated. He had said that the consultant’s failure to plan the Smart City Mission projects properly led to some works remaining incomplete on May 31 deadline.

Works of sewerage lines and manholes throughout Panaji has been completed, and only the house connections remain, said Sawant.
