The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) entered into an agreement with Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and exchanged an MoU on Smart City mission.
The MoU was exchanged during a Roundtable on CII National Mission on Smart Cities held here on Saturday. Regional Director, CII Eastern Region, Saugat Mukherjee and BMC Commissioner Dr Krishan Kumar inked the MoU. As per the agreement, CII will work with BMC and relevant stakeholders, including industry and civil society, in developing visions, setting goals and charting strategies on how to transform Bhubaneswar into world-class smart city.
The CII will also collaborate with the State in terms of mobilising industry expertise and resources. Private companies would form a consortium which has adopted 10 broad themes on the Smart City concept.
The themes are e-governance and citizens’ services, smart safety and security, smart solid waste management, smart water management, smart grid and energy management, smart (green) buildings, smart urban mobility, metro light rail transit system, renewable energy and social infrastructure.
The CII has set up National Smart Cities Mission which is currently working closely with the State governments across the country and the Union Ministry of Urban Development to help build a framework and offer technical solutions.
Among others, Development Commissioner U N Behera, Arun Misha, Convenor, Infrastructure Panel of CII Odisha State Council and Tapan Mohanty, Convenor, Smart City Taskforce, CII Odisha State Council were present.
