Chief Minister J Jayalalitha inaugurated 151 e-seva centres, a one-stop solution to offer various government services to the people, in different parts of the State through video-conferencing from the Secretariat here.

According to an official release here today, the centres were set up at a total cost of Rs 12.15 crore.

Services such as Income Certificate, Community Certificate, Nativity Certificate, Property Tax, Girl Child Protection Scheme, Marriage Assistance Scheme etc will be offered through the e-centres, the release said.

The centres will enable the people to get government services close to their homes. They need not go to various government offices.'

The centres pave the way for prompt and transparent processing of applications for certifications of Revenue and other departments. The centres would also play a pivotal role in streamlining the benefits of various government schemes implemented through the Social Welfare department.

In future, these centres would accept water tax, electricity bills and other such payments.

Transport Minister V Senthil Balaji, IT Minister Mukkur N Subramanian, Chief Secretary K Gnanadesikan, Advisor to Tamilnadu government Sheela Balakrishnan, Tamilnadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation Chairman Udumalai K Radhakrishnan, IT Principal Secretary T K Ramachandran, , Tamilnadu e-Governance Agency CEO Atul Anand, Arasu Cable Managing Director J Kumaragurubaran and other higher officials were present when the Chief Minister inaugurated the facilities.
