Experts to design gamification strategy to advertise Digital India among citizens, industry.

India is looking for gamification experts to get involved in its campaign to digitise public services across the country.

Gamification creates scenarios in which people compete or win prizes, while learning about a topic or behaving in a certain desirable way.

Experts will work with the National E-Governance Division to design gamification strategies for advertising the Digital India programme to citizens, government agencies, civil society, academic institutions and industry.

They will also work to improve feedback collection, volunteering, evaluation of government projects and capacity building for projects under the Digital India campaign, according to a document published by the agency.

The gamification team will have to develop a dashboard for the government to track progress of all the gamification projects under Digital India.

The games should give players instant positive feedback that encourages them to continue their actions, or negative feedback so they know that they need to behave differently, the document says.

When a participant completes a task, the game should reward them. A scoreboard will let them know where they stand among others in the game, the document said.

The game should be designed with a series of quick wins to encourage players to make regular progress towards the broader goal. It should have a simple set of rules that can be understood easily.

The National E-Governance Division has invited firms to submit proposals. Prospective firms are being judged based on their experience in offering gaming solutions on the web, social media, apps and other channels for governments and private sector companies.

The shortlisted firms will become part of a panel through which they can bid for specific gamification projects. The panel will be finalised between 7 May and 11 May.
