Transforming Government since 2001
The Indian government has committed to extend broadband connectivity to 50,000 villages by next March, announced Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

The government plans to roll out wifi connectivity to an additional 100,000 rural areas in each of the next two fiscal years.

This digital inclusion initiative aims to generate more employment for youth in rural areas and curb overpopulation in cities.

He added that the government will soon introduce a new business process outsourcing policy so young working adults do not have to leave their states.

Prasad told local media that the future of the country depends on technology: “The calculation is simple. It is IT (India's talent) + IT (information technology) = IT (India tomorrow)”.
