"The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has implemented this system successfully. The PMC standing committee members recently visited the PCMC to understand the system. In the meeting today, we discussed this model and decided to improvise and implement it," standing committee chairman Vishal Tambe told reporters on Tuesday.
"Along with basic information and grievance addressing, we plan to provide basic documents and certificates like domicile, income, age proof and caste through this system. This will be an advanced version of SARATHI and is expected to be completed in the next four months," Tambe said. The PMC plans to provide this service at ward levels so citizens can access the system.
When questioned about the delay in the proposal to introduce SARATHI, he said that the civic body first wanted to study the system. "
Now, as we are convinced, the PMC will soon start the actual work on it" Tambe said.
SARATHI in PCMC
Pimpri Chinchwad residents have access to information on various government and civic services through SARATHI, launched on August 15 this year. The helpline centre functions between 7am and 10pm. SARATHI also helps citizens in emergencies like a pipeline leakage or drainage problem. Citizens are required to call a common number and register their problem. In addition, the PCMC has launched a booklet, an e-book, a PDF book and mobile applications for the helpline. A mobile phone application has also been launched.
