The Nilgiris district’s e-governance initiative was launched by Collector P. Shankar at Aravenu near Kotagiri on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, he said that the Nilgiris is among the few districts chosen to implement the scheme.
Pointing out that the objective is to expedite the process of issuing certificates by the revenue and social welfare departments, he said that people can apply for certificates by paying a minimum fee at the service centres identified by the administration. They can collect certificates after three days. The practice of issuing certificates through the tahsildars will be dispensed with, he said.
