Transforming Government since 2001
Kerala will be transformed into a fully ‘digital’ state by 2015, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Wednesday.

As part of this, two facilities - a state services delivery gateway and a payment gateway - will be functional within a year, he said.

Briefing the media at the e-Governance Leadership Meet, Chandy said that the state was all set to become the first in the country with all districts transformed into e-districts.

“The Centre has set a nationwide target of 50 districts. Of this 14 are ours,” he said.

Kerala, along with Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are in the forefront of e-governance initiatives, but when it comes to total e-coverage, Kerala has an edge, said Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty. Services offered by the Motor Vehicles Dept, panchayats and municipalities too will be e-enabled soon, said IT principal secretary P H Kurien.

The e-governance meet was jointly organised by the State Govt and the NISG. NISG CEO Sanjiv Mital, Chief Secretary Jose Cyriac, Planning Board vice-chairman K M Chandrasekhar and Union IT secretary J Satyanarayana led the sessions.
