The residents would now be able to talk directly to the chief minister and senior officers of all important departments from the office of the deputy commissioner of their district through this advanced system.
Though Dikshit inaugurated the new video conferencing facility from the Delhi secretariat on Tuesday, the residents of west Delhi had their first interaction with the chief minister on Friday last week.
After inaugurating the system, Dikshit interacted with all the nine deputy commissioners of Delhi from a room adjacent to her office chamber.
Describing it as a "big step" forward in direction of e-governance, she said the video conferencing system will help the administration in cutting delays in the decision making process as officials concerned could be reached through it. "The officers and public representatives sitting on the other side will be able to submit their suggestions and comments simultaneously which will help in taking on-the-spot decisions," she said.
Apart from the CM’s office at Delhi secretariat and deputy commissioners’ offices in nine districts, the facility has also been made available at 14 more offices across the city including the offices of the lieutenant governor, the chief secretary of Delhi, divisional commissioner and chairman of NDMC.
