The month of May has been set as a deadline to complete the registration for Aadhar (Unique Identification Number) in Mysore district, said M.N. Vidyashankar, Principal Secretary, Department of e-Governance in the State.
Speaking after reviewing the progress of Aadhar at the Deputy Commissioner's office in the district here recently, Vidyashankar said that in order to speed up the process of registration, Centres have been opened at the Gram Panchayat level to enable rural peo-ple to get themselves registered.
"People should be encouraged to come for registration by setting up Centres at every village and must ensure that more number of people are registered," he said.
"If the target is reached by May in Mysore district, it would become the first district in the country to complete the process. Aadhar Governance Award will be conferred on the Nodal Officers who work towards achieving this goal within the deadline," he added.
The Dy. Commissioners have been entrusted with the responsibility of setting up Aadhar Registration Centres and Tahsildars will be responsible for such Centres within the city limits.
Veerendra, State Chief Executive Officer for Aadhar, speaking on the occasion, assured immediate attention and help to matters or problems related to Aadhar and said the officers could seek help from his team pertaining to Aadhar.
Mysore City Corporation (MCC) has had 5,56,610 enrollment up to Mar. 26, across its 37 Aadhar Centres. About 12,95,029 people have registered for Aadhar across the district in 350 units functioning under 91 Centres, till Mar. 28, 2011.
Aadhar Public Relations Officer Prabhakar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (in charge) Zaara Nasreen, Tahasildars from all taluks, Hunsur Assistant Commissioner Lingamurthy, MCC Officer Nagendrappa and others were present.
