Transforming Government since 2001
Having won the prestigious national level "Land Records Information System" from the Computer Society of India recently, the state Directorate of Settlement and Land Records (DSLR) is now making further forays into the world of e-governance.

The DSLR director Mihir Vardhan said his department is now planning a web-based system where all survey numbers of land in Goa and their details will be visible on the internet for any interested viewers to see.

The facility will allow anyone, anywhere in the world to log on to a website and access the land records in Goa. This would be especially beneficial to non-resident Goans who can track any parcel of land of interest to them and even print the records through a payment gateway. "We have already demonstrated this system in June this year. The fine tuning is on and we will launch it in a couple of months," Vardhan said.

This is specially beneficial to non-resident Goans who own properties in Goa. Should there be any change in the details of their property such as ownership of their land in Goa, they can track the changes immediately because with the computerization of the land records in Goa, and the consequent online updating of records, all changes can be tracked in almost real time.

The new initiative comes hot on the heels of the recent success of the DSLR in bagging the national level "Land Records Information System" award. The presentation ceremony of the award is scheduled for November 30.

The land records information system is unique because it has features such as integrated record of Form XV, online continuous updating of records and digital crop survey. These features are nowhere prevalent in any other part of the country and have been implemented together for the first time in Goa.

Goa bagged the award beating about 140 other entries because of the unique features of the system such as the integrated land records which are a combination of text and graphic data. Another unique feature of the system is that it instantly updates the records when land acquisition takes place. Now the name of the government department that has acquired the land will instantly come on the form I & XIV and will show instantly on the plan.
