Riding high on the successful completion of the data capture, image and finger printing biometrics activities for the National Population Register of the Unique Identity (UID) project in four states, domestic IT and ITES services provider Computer Lab is eyeing to lay hands on the similar exercise under Census programme.

The Census data collection that rolled out on April 1 also entails images and biometric finger printing of all individuals from the age of 15. “We would be launching a bid for the work in Orissa and are hopeful of winning it”, Managing Partner Santosh Mohanty said here today.

The company had undertaken NPR activities in four states of Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, which concluded last month with data capturing of around 25 lakh population. In Orissa, the UID project was undertaken in six districts of Ganjam, Puri, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.

About 8.5 lakh population have been covered with image and biometric fingerprinting of 5.6 lakh. It had undertaken activities in one district in West Bengal, three in Tamil Nadu and six in Andhra Pradesh.

The IT services firm specialising in digitisation of high volume of raw data for e-governance projects, energy billing, computerisation of land records, agricultural census, preparation of voter ID cards and processing date for State Finance commission observed its 20th anniversary here yesterday.
