The state government is the single largest service provider to the citizens, a map based e-governance which is the most effective technology includes spatially referenced data base, Himachal Pradesh chief secretary Asha Swaroop said while presiding over the inaugural session of the one-day workshop on 'GIS', an official release said.
"The GIS has many important applications in different areas of development and. I certainly feel that higher resolution data would be useful for detailed planning of every department," she said.
Citing examples on hydel sector, she said that GIS data could give clear picture to the planners as how damage to environment could be minimised by hydel projects.
