Transforming Government since 2001
In a bid to strengthen the panchayati raj institutions in Punjab, the functioning of the local bodies would be computerised under national e-gram panchayats scheme.

Rural development and panchayat minister Ranjit Singh Brahmpura today said that a scheme to connect all Gram Panchayats (GPs) with national e-governance would be launched in all the districts and 90 per cent cost would be borne by the Centre.

The government is committed to adopt ePRI scheme on a priority basis with a view to put this plan into practice and detailed project report had already been submitted for the national panchayat portal, he said.

Brahmpura said that 73rd amendment of the Constitution had already entrusted PRIs with funds and programmes of various kinds with assured participation of rural people especially women folk and weaker sections of society.
