With the aim to popularise use of Information Technology at the grassroots, Himachal Pradesh plans to set up 3,366 'Lok Mitra Kendras' at the gram panchayat level to provide all services people require at their doorsteps, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said today.

The state government is also working to computerise revenue courts as well public distribution system and HIMSWAN (state wide area network) to be extended down to the sub-tehsil level, Dhumal said in his inaugural speech at the two-day workshop on national e-governance plan here.

He said mobile users would soon be provided SMS gateway service which would be delivering them all information from different departments.

Dhumal said the state would soon introduce Geographical Information System (GIS) to maintain vigil over forest wealth besides evaluating impact of catchment area treatment schemes (CAT).
