A rural e-Health programme jointly developed by Sarawak Information System (Sains) and Measat Satellite Systems (Measat) will reach the shores of Peninsular Malaysia soon.

According to Deputy Minister of Multimedia and Communications Datuk Jailani Johari, the ‘Rural ICT-Guided Home-Based Technopreneur Community Healthcare Advancement Nurturing For Growth Ecosystem’ (RiGHT CHANGE) aims to provide rural folk with easier access to e-Health services.

“I would like to congratulate the state government for its initiative to provide the rural people with the opportunity to have health checks via the Internet, without the need to go to the city which will incur higher cost and time.

“In this respect, RiGHT CHANGE could also be applied in the rural areas of Penisular Malaysia. We see this programme as something very beneficial and helpful,” he told reporters after officiating at a ‘RiGHT CHANGE Programme’ at Kampung Tambirat Multipurpose Hall near here yesterday.

On the programme, Jailani said those seeking medical checks would go through several levels before getting their results from an appointed medical doctor.

“It is a fast, easy and less-hassle way for them to get health results.”

Moreover, Jailani said his ministry felt that the 1Malaysia Internet Centre could become a centre for the programme.

“We will monitor the progress of this programme first, as this is a private initiative. We will look into its effectiveness.”

So far, ‘RiGHT CHANGE’ has been implemented in Sebangan, Singai, Debak and Tambirat. It will be introduced to another three locations across the state soon.
