Limbang Parliamentarian Hasbi Habibollah said such knowledge and skills were vital for them to discharge their duties effectively as the forerunners in the education development.
He pointed out that they had no valid reason not to enhance their skills as the government had continuously allocated substantial funds to equip schools with ICT facilities for them and their students to enhance their respective disciplines.
“In line with the aspirations to make Malaysia the centre of excellent in education in the region, teachers play an important role in developing the potentials of their students.
The tasks of teachers are even more challenging in this global era with the fast development of technology. As such teachers have to keep abreast with its development otherwise their knowledge will be outdated,” he stressed.
Hasbi made the remarks when officiating the recent 1Malaysia 2012 Adoption Programme at SK Tiga Kampong here.
Among those present were the Malaysian Information Department deputy director Zaini Mohamad, representive of the Limbang District Officer, Reno Musino, Walikota Limbang District Council Sufian Mohat, the Limbang District Officer Mohd Dzul Badzli Abdullah, the headmistress of SK Tiga Kampong Kartini Hasbollah and the Limbang Information officer Azlan Charles Abdullah.
Hasbi added teachers as government officials were entrusted with major role in ensuring the country’s education system achieved its role of producing quality manpower with high integrity needed for the nation’s development.
Hasbi said the government, meanwhile, continues to be committed in the development of schools as can be seen in the Budget 2013, where every student is given RM100 to alleviate their financial burden. This will cost the government more than RM500 million.
On the 1Malaysia 2012 Adoption Programme organised by the Information Department, Hasbi was optimistic it could spur the students to excel in their studies and become useful Malaysians.
“I firmly believed this programme provides an ideal platform for the school’s management and teachers to measure the real potentials of their students’ capabilities to strive for excellence in all fields at the school, state and even national levels,” he said.
