In a statement here Friday, Commerce Dot Com said the programme aimed to provide assistance to local businessmen in rural parts on Malaysia on ways to use the ePerolehan system in order to interact with the government.
The eP@DESA project is a collaboration between ePerolehan Unit with the Pusat Internet Desa (PID) from the Ministry of Information Communication and Culture and Medan Info Desa (MID) of Rural and Regional Development Ministry.
"Entrepreneurs and small businesses living in the rural area will now be able to get consultation and advice on using the ePerolehan system," it said.
It said the role of PID and MID centres were initially created to close in the digital divide especially in rural areas and act as a centre that provides computers and Internet facilities.
The eP@DESA programme would further enhance the functions of the PID and MID as a one-stop centre for eGovernment-related service with the ePerolehan facility that is now made available at all PID and MID centres.
"Rural businessmen can get ePerolehan consultation and basic walkthroughs in using the ePerolehan system such as answering to government purchase orders and quotations, check application registration status, renew Ministry of Finance applications and many more," it said.
The ePerolehan is the federal government's electronic procurement system that was developed by Commerce Dot Com in 1999 under the purview of Finance Ministry Unit ePerolehan and remains as one of the most successful flagship applications in electronic government.
